Alkaline Earth Metals
Although alkaline earth metals are reactant, they don't explode in water, and aren't quite on the level of alkali metals. Also unlike alkali metals, alkaline earth metals have relatively high boiling AND melting points and are not commonly found in nature. Most alkaline earth metals are present in the earth's crust. Alkaline earth metals have 2 extra electron they would love to dispose of in their valence shell, giving them a charge of 2+ when they are stable and form an ion. Another attribute that this family of atoms shares is density. Alkaline earth metals tend to have a low density.
